Song Zhong Mi Lanxiang, formerly known as Fragrant Sweet Potato, is named because the finished tea produces a unique smell when brewing, just like the smell of fragrant sweet potatoes, hence the name. Four years ago, the tea expert was identified as the Song Zhong Milan Fragrance type. Because of the taste of the honey orchid fragrance, and the high age, it is called the Song Zhong Milan Fragrance Dancong.

It has grown on a hillside facing east and east, with an altitude of about 1150 meters in the tea garden of Shitouguan District (picture), which is said to be a tree. It has been more than 600 years old, and the ancestor of Wei Weiguang, the ancestor of the management household, was bred from a single plant of the natural hybrid descendants of the Phoenix Narcissus group. The height of the tree is 4.59 meters, the tree is open, the canopy is 6.5 × 6.7 meters, and the main trunk is 8 large stalks on the ground, and the largest branching and stalks 52 cm long, the branch density is medium, the leaves are oblique, and the leaves are 10.4 cm long and 4 cm wide, and the leaves are oblong. Leaf flanks rise, the leaves are dark green, the leaves are flat, the leaves are hard and brittle, the leaf tips are acuminate, the lateral veins of the leaves are 12 pairs, the leaf teeth are thin, shallow, and sharp, there are 28 pairs, and the leaf margins are microwaved. The spring buds germinate before and after the Qingming Festival, and the picking period is before and after the beginning of summer. The buds are light green and have no hair. The germination density is high. The spring shoots are 10 cm long, with 4-5 raw leaves, 3 cm between nodes, and 2 rounds of new shoots every year. The flowering period is from 11 to December, the diameter of the Corolla is 3-3.5 cm, the flower line is 104-138, and the stigma is 3 forks, and the fruiting rate is low. The fruit contains 2-3 tea seeds, and there are many flowers and fruits in recent years.

Golden Leaf Dancong(黄金叶单枞)

Golden Leaf, also known as White Leaf King, was originally called Honey Orchid Fragrance. Because the finished tea has a honey and orchid fragrance, it was called Honey Orchid Fragrance Dancong. Because its leaves are a lighter green than other teas (tea farmers call it white), it was called White Leaf Dancong.

According to Lin Weisheng, a tea farmer in Qipanshu, in 1993, he discovered that among 20 White Leaf Dancong tea plants planted near the charcoal kiln on Dazhi Mountain, one plant had very yellowish-green and tender leaves at the tip of its branches. He took cuttings for propagation, but after several unsuccessful attempts, he grafted them onto the Narcissus variety, and they took root. After careful cultivation, the leaves of each season’s tea are golden yellow, hence the name Golden Leaf Dancong (pictured).

Lin Weisheng further explained that Golden Leaf Dancong, besides its beautiful golden-yellow leaves, is also an early-budding variety. Its buds sprout during the rainy season and are harvested around the spring equinox, entering the market early to meet tea drinkers’ needs. The finished tea has a yellowish-brown color, which also attracts buyers. Its characteristics are similar to White Leaf Dancong, with strong resistance to adverse conditions, high fertilizer tolerance (i.e., strong nutrient absorption capacity), high budding rate, and rapid and long shoot growth, producing five cycles of new shoots annually. It is a high-yielding variety, therefore, it has been extensively grafted in the region and has spread to other tea-producing areas.

Milanxiang Dancong is a traditional historical famous tea of ​​Fenghuang Town, having won numerous awards in provincial, national, and international tea competitions. Currently, it is the most produced, best-selling, and most stable tea among the ten major varieties of Fenghuang Dancong.
